Alex Isley Covers “At Your Best (You Are Love)”

The Daughter of Ernie Isley Shares Her Take On The Isley Brothers’ Classic

Alex Isley offers the latest release in the Are + Be Spotify Singles series with the remake of The Isley Brothers‘ single, “At Your Best (You Are Love). “

The 1976 classic was also made popular by the late Aaliyah Haughton as a single included on her 1995 album Age Ain’t Noting But A Number.  The original version of the song was written by Ernie Isley (Alex‘s dad), Marvin IsleyO’Kelly Isley, Jr., Ronald Isley and Chris Jasper.

“I’ll always have such a strong emotional connection to this song; it was written by my dad. There’s such sweetness and honesty there, it always resonates with me. Aaliyah put her own stamp on this song in such a uniquely beautiful and timeless way, and I remember the very first time I heard it as a little girl. ”   – Alex Isley

Today, on the anniversary of Aaliyah’s passing, Alex shares her rendition of the song accompanied by acoustic guitar.  Alex Isley has shared her melodic vocals on other projects including her EPs The Beauty of Everything and most recently on the “Good & Plenty (Remix) featuring Lucky Daye, and on Kenyon Dixon‘s song, “Expectations.”
